Transports

To get to the Conference venue, which is located on the IPL Benfica Campus, you can choose different forms of transport. Below you can find several suggestions to and from the IPL for different locations.

Walking / By foot 👣

Walk to ESELx (the time it takes depends on the starting point).

Lisbon Airport

Metro 🚇 (approximately 55 minutes)

– Lisbon Airport is conveniently connected to the metro system.
– Follow the signs to the metro station within the airport.
– Purchase a “Viva Viagem” card or use your contactless card to pay for the journey.
– Take the Red Line (Linha Vermelha) towards “São Sebastião”.
– Change at “São Sebastião” and take the Blue Line (Linha Azul) towards “Reboleira”.
– Get off at “Colégio Militar” station.
– Walk to ESELx (approximately 15 minutes).

Oriente Station

Train 🚈 (Approximately 24 minutes)

– At “Oriente” station, look at the timetables and get on any train that goes in the direction to “Sintra”.
– Get off at “Benfica” train station.
– Once you arrive at Benfica Train Station, you can reach ESELx by walking. The campus is within walking distance from Benfica Train Station. Follow the signs or use a map application to navigate to the Lisbon School of Education (ESELx). The walk should take approximately 5-10 minutes.


Metro 🚇 (Approximately 43 minutes)

– Oriente station is conveniently connected to the metro system.
– Follow the signs to the metro station within the airport.
– Purchase a “Viva Viagem” card or use your contactless card to pay for the journey.
– Take the Red Line (Linha Vermelha) towards “São Sebastião”.
– Change at “São Sebastião” and take the Blue Line (Linha Azul) towards “Reboleira”.
– Get off at “Colégio Militar” station.
– Walk to ESELx (approximately 15 minutes).

Downtown area (city center)

Metro 🚇 (Approximately 35 minutes)

– The whole downtown part of Lisbon is conveniently connected to the metro system.
– Follow the signs to a metro station within the center.
– Purchase a “Viva Viagem” card or use your contactless card to pay for the journey.
– Depending on your starting point:
Praça do Comércio, Baixa-Chiado or Restauradores -> Take the Blue line (Linha Azul) towards “Reboleira”
Cais do Sodré, Rossio or Martim Moniz -> Take the Green line (Linha Verde) to Baixa-Chiado, then, take the Blue Line (Linha Azul) towards “Reboleira”
– Get off at “Colégio Militar” station.
– Walk to ESELx (approximately 15 minutes).

 

Train 🚈 (approximately 22 minutes)

– By Metro or by foot go to “Rossio” train station.
– At “Rossio” station, look at the timetables and get on any train that goes in the direction to “Sintra”.
– Get off at “Benfica” train station.
– Once you arrive at Benfica Train Station, you can reach ESELx by walking. The campus is within walking distance from Benfica Train Station. Follow the signs or use a map application to navigate to the Lisbon School of Education (ESELx). The walk should take approximately 5-10 minutes.

 

Anywhere in central Lisbon

– Check the GIRA app or website to find the nearest GIRA bike-sharing station.
– Sign up in the GIRA App.
– Rent a bike from the station.
– Follow bike lanes and road signs towards Benfica.
– Drop your bike in a station near ESELx.
– Walk to ESELx.

– Take the train towards Lisbon.
